Healthy Cat Room

The Bristol Animal Shelter is unique in that we
house our cats in a communal living environment. Instead of being
locked away in cages, our cats are free to roam an entire room devoted
to their comfort and entertainment. Before entering this room, each cat
is quarantined, rigorously vet-checked, vaccinated and spayed/neutered.
As long as they remain healthy and live in harmony with each other, our
cats are free to live in this room until they have been adopted.
Recently, this room has
been under controversy. DEM is proposing regulations that would require
our healthy cats to be placed in cages overnight. Placing cages in our
Healthy Cat Room would not only restrict the amount of space allotted
to our cats, but it would also place unnecessary stress upon our cats.
As long as our cats remain healthy, we feel that it would only be
detrimental to our cats to place them in cages. If you are in
support of our Healthy Cat Room and would like to help our cause,
